Large Civil Construction and Design Contractor
- Lead a new Commercial team and deliver an iconic infrastructure project

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specially formed Design and Construction Contractor that has been selected to deliver one of the largest PPP infrastructure projects in mainland Australia.
We are seeking expression of interest from experienced Commercial Manager with a background in civil construction or major infrastructure/ tunnelling projects, that can support and drive the culture of the Commercial team while providing support and guidance of systems and procedures on the project. You will promote, encourage and assist senior management and protect teams in implementing effective commercial (contractual and financial) practises.
**Specific responsibilities and accountabilities will include**:
- Ensure project managers, contract administrators and all relevant project staff understand and comply with commercial requirements in contracts with customers and major/high risk subcontracts as per policies, procedures and guidelines
- Manage commercial issues, minor and major contract disputes when delegated by senior management. This will include assisting contract administrators and project managers as needed regarding claims, contractual issues, disputes, preparing subcontract terms and conditions, and setting up administration procedures on and off site with accounting
- Attend contract acceptance and contract review meetings as necessary to ensure commercial and contract administration issues comply with contract requirements, policies and procedures
- Review and approve acceptance or proposed major / high risk subcontracts and any other subcontracts as instructed by senior management
- Lead identification and quantification of Head Contract scope changes and all subsequent negotiations with the Client
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with customers/subcontractors as authorised by senior management in liaison with project management, as per policies, procedures and guidelines
- Undertake post-contract completion reviews, analyse results, undertake corrective actions
- Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
- Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
**Application criteria**:
- Degree qualified in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or other associated disciplines Relevant industry experience
- Highly experienced in commercial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects
- Advanced skills in procedures for project contract administration, general business administration and project management
- Reporting and compliance with respect to commercial performance and legislation/code to prevent potential business exposure
- Understand scope of works for the project and regions and business units and each subcontracted section of works including the ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Skill in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
