Salary Range: $82,394 - $95,755pa + superannuation
Do you enjoy leading from the front and taking pride in well-maintained public spaces? The Team Leader Urban Services plays a vital, hands-on role in maintaining and improving the town's parks, gardens, sporting grounds, streetscapes and community facilities. This position combines practical outdoor work with day-to-day leadership, ensuring urban services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard for residents and visitors alike.
As Team Leader, you will coordinate and motivate a small crew, preparing work schedules, supervising staff and contractors, and ensuring compliance with Council policies, WHS requirements and codes of conduct. You will work alongside your team in maintenance and construction activities, safely operating plant and powered equipment while setting the standard for professionalism, teamwork and safety. Responding to after-hours emergencies and supporting operational priorities will also form part of this role.
This position is ideal for a proactive, solutions-focused leader who enjoys variety and responsibility, and can balance supervision with active participation in daily tasks. You will manage workloads, contribute to budget control, maintain accurate records and provide advice to the Senior Supervisor and Manager on resources required to meet service demands while working hands-on with your team. A strong focus on continuous improvement, staff development and efficient service delivery will help ensure the town's public spaces remain safe, functional and visually appealing.

This position is located in Coolah. Situated on the picturesque Coolaburragundy River and nestled in a valley of the Liverpool Range, the town is surrounded by undulating hills and fertile river flats and is an attractive service town for the surrounding agricultural district. Only an hour south east of Coonabarabran, close to major centres, and with the nearby Coolah Tops National Park offering rugged natural beauty and adventure, Coolah delivers the best of country living.
Selection criteria include:
Demonstrated experience in supervising and coordinating outdoor staff and contractors.
Practical knowledge and experience in streetscape, parks, sporting fields, cemeteries, turf management, irrigation, and horticulture.
Proven ability to plan, schedule, and deliver works within time and budget constraints.
Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop staff.
Sound knowledge of WHS requirements and proven commitment to safe work practices.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to community requests effectively.
Competence in the safe operation and basic maintenance of plant and small powered equipment.
Current MR driver's licence and relevant traffic control/plant operation tickets.
It is a plus if you have experience in local government operations, formal qualifications in horticulture, turf management, civil works, or a related field. You will need to have at least basic computer literacy and willingness to use technology in the workplace.
