Overview
We work for the people of Victoria by helping the Government achieve its strategic objectives. We support the Premier, the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, as well as the Cabinet. The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is seeking 3 x VPS4 Policy Officers to join its Multicultural Affairs Policy Branch.
As Policy Officer, you will be responsible for providing high quality policy and program delivery advice to support Victoria's diverse multicultural communities, including on whole-of-government reforms and policies focused on supporting priority, new and emerging multicultural communities. This role will contribute to the implementation and oversight of key Multicultural Affairs initiatives, such as whole-of-government strategies, secretariat duties, the portfolio's responsibilities under key government reforms, and strategic programs and initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound policy, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to support the provision of advice to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, the Premier and Deputy Premier, the Secretary, and senior executives on matters relevant to the portfolio. Delivery of this work will also require effective communication, stakeholder engagement and project management skills to deliver high-quality briefs, written advice and analysis. You will be responsible for supporting effective relationships with key stakeholders across government and non-government sectors to support effective policy and program delivery.
The following positions are available: 2 Ongoing and 1 Fixed term (to 17 April 2027).
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality policy and program delivery advice to support Victoria's diverse multicultural communities.
* Contribute to the implementation and oversight of whole-of-government initiatives and government reforms relevant to the portfolio.
* Prepare high-quality briefs, written advice and analysis for the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, the Premier, the Deputy Premier, the Secretary and senior executives.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support policy and program delivery across government and non-government sectors.
* Apply policy, analytical and problem‐solving skills to inform decisions and policy directions.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Demonstrated policy, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide sound policy and program delivery advice.
* Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and project management.
* Ability to work across government on whole-of-government reforms and complex policies affecting multicultural communities.
* Eligibility: This position is open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.
