Key Responsibilities:
* Drive the implementation and ongoing development of council's corporate and operational planning and reporting processes.
* Lead staff and community workshops to ensure that stakeholders are appropriately consulted in the preparation and review of corporate and operational planning documentation.
* Ensure that council meets its statutory reporting obligations in accordance with legislative and council reporting cycles.
* Lead the review, development and management of policy and procedure in a number of areas including but not limited to right to information, information privacy and human rights assessments.
* Research, interpret and apply legislation to provide specialist, informed advice, guidance and support to management, employees and councillors across a broad range of governance matters.
Requirements:
* Experience in governance in a local government context or a similar discipline.
* Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation and regulation applicable to local government and this role.
* Proven ability to critically evaluate information, plan and coordinate complex projects and processes and the capacity to develop innovative solutions.
* Extensively developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide high level specialist advice, produce reports and documentation for a variety of stakeholders.
