Basic Rights Queensland (BRQ) is a state-wide specialist community legal center dedicated to providing free advice, advocacy, and legal services to individuals facing issues related to social security or disability discrimination. For over 30 years, BRQ has worked to simplify the complex landscape of social security law while empowering people to protect their rights. Operated by a team with legal and human services expertise, BRQ offers telephone-based support to ensure accessibility across Queensland, from urban areas to remote communities. The organization prioritizes creating a supportive and inclusive environment and is funded by the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General and the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Queensland, Australia, as the Director of Working Women Queensland. Responsibilities include leading the program, developing and implementing strategic initiatives, advocating for the rights and wellbeing of working women, and managing team members to deliver community support services. The successful candidate will oversee stakeholder engagement, policy development, and partnerships that align with organizational goals. Additionally, the Director will ensure compliance with funding and legal requirements while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

* Leadership and management skills, including the ability to effectively guide teams and implement strategic initiatives.
* Strong advocacy and policy development skills to represent and promote the rights of working women.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building abilities.
* Experience in community support services and a deep understanding of social justice and gender equity issues.
* Organized and detail-oriented with project management skills to oversee program delivery and compliance requirements.
* Relevant qualifications in fields such as law, social work, public policy, or related disciplines.
* Experience working in a not-for-profit or community organization is advantageous.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and mission-driven environment.
