We are seeking to establish a pool of Senior Gardener – Handyperson for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Role Overview
As the Senior Gardener – Handyperson, the successful applicant is expected to maintain school grounds and ensure they are well presented. Responsibilities include gardening, ground and facility management, performing minor repairs and maintenance, and adhering to safe work practices in accordance with the Department's policies and guidelines. The role requires good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain school grounds, gardens, turf, and sporting facilities.
* Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
* Service and store horticultural equipment and chemicals safely.
* Assist in the coordination and supervision of staff activities.
* Implement and uphold Department of Education safety and environmental guidelines.
Selection Criteria & Qualifications
* Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in maintaining grounds and gardens, including turf management.
* Experience in servicing horticultural/gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Knowledge of gardening methods and procedures, and safe use and storage of gardening equipment, materials and chemicals.
* Experience in coordinating and supervising staff.
Eligibility
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
