Medical Receptionist – Gisborne
We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and detail‑oriented individual with excellent communication skills to join our practice in Gisborne.
Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist is preferred, and familiarity with Best Practice software is advantageous but not essential, as training can be provided.

The Medical Receptionist will work closely with the practice team, including the Senior Medical Receptionist and Practice Manager.
Key responsibilities as listed in the duties and tasks below

Duties & Task Types
Tasks include:
· Opening and closing the clinic.
· Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors with courtesy and respect.
· Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner using excellent telephone etiquette.
· Manage a high volume of calls, providing assistance to patients with script-related inquiries and offering clear, helpful guidance.
· Maintain confidentiality.
· Make appointments for patients, register new patients, and update current patient demographics.
· Assist with registering patients for their electronic medical record (My Health Record).
· Facilitate patient flow by notifying the practitioner of the patient’s arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
· Record vaccine fridge temperature in log book.
· Confirm new patients and SMS all appointments.
· Issue billing, accounts and receipts to patients accurately. Check with the practitioner if uncertain regarding billing.
Scan correspondence after review and initial it with the practitioner.
· Check emails and send tasks to practitioners where appropriate.
· Check and open mail. Distribute to practitioners.
· Keep the reception area clean and organised, and the kitchen clean and tidy
· Completing the end-of-day banking .
· Other miscellaneous tasks.
