About us: The Mental Health - Hospital in The Home program (MH-HITH) will provide hospital substitution care, providing inpatient assessment and treatment services outside the hospital setting for people presenting with/experiencing acute episode of mental illness. The objective of the program is to provide consumers with individualised assessment and treatment alongside a supportive framework for the family/carers in their own home to manage an acute mental health issue that otherwise required inpatient care. The Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health, Alcohol, and other Drug Services (MHAODS) is responsible for delivering services throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and for supporting other MHAODS in the surrounding Hospital and Health Services of Cape York, Torres Strait Northern Peninsula Area. Its primary objective is to ensure access to a comprehensive range of treatment and support services, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, disability support, as well as early intervention, and mental health prevention and promotion.

In your new role you will……
* Apply independent clinical judgement and decision making to complex clinical mental health presentations.
* Proactively participate in the multidisciplinary team and actively promote the services and profile of Access Services within the Hospital and Health Service.
* Maintain the currency and high quality of clinical practice knowledge, skills, and expertise by actively contributing to and participating in professional development activities.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will…..
* Act as a role model and mentor for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced mental health clinicians in the provision of holistic mental health care.
* Initiate and actively participate in quality improvement projects that facilitate the review and evaluation of the target service and associated processes.
* Comply with the timely and accurate input and collection of consumer related demographic information, diagnosis, outcomes collections and provision of service activity into appropriate electronic databases.
* Apply and embrace change management principles.
