Role

Medical Education Support Officer is a key role in the East Coast Medical Network, a training Network for Basic Physician Trainees, consisting of six hospital sites across NSW. The role is diverse and includes:

* Management of a Networked Training Program
* Term and Leave allocations
* Annual and ad hoc Basic Physician Trainee employment and recruitment
* Pastoral care for Trainees/Doctors in Training and appropriate escalation as required
* Interactions/liaison with a large number of stakeholders across multiple sites

The position is primarily based at Prince of Wales Hospital and requires some travel and site visits to other sites in the Network (Port Macquarie, Shellharbour, Sydney and Lismore Hospitals).


Why

To develop, manage, coordinate and evaluate the education training program and educational activities, liaising with the Network Director of Physician Training (NDPT) and Site Directors of Education (DPEs) to ensure the delivery of high quality education and training initiatives and provide support to the trainees/doctors in Training within the Network.

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria

* Relevant qualifications in health, education or management and/or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of these.
* Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical skills, including the capacity to prepare high quality reports, briefings, submissions, business cases and correspondence.
* Demonstrated strong organisational skills and proven experience in the management of diverse and complex projects and multiple tasks in a timely manner and to meet assigned deadlines, with a capacity to work with minimal direction.
* Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in a high pressure, high volume work environment, with the flexibility to adapt to meet the challenges of delivering a work-based education program.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrable ability to build and maintain strong, effective relationships and deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
* Previous experience with recruitment, adult education or health administration
* The flexibility and ability to travel to other Network sites as required and a current NSW drivers licence.
