POSITION TITLE : Farmer / Agronomist Berry Production Specialist

SALARY : $110,000 - $130,000 (Annually)
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Farmer or Agronomist with a strong background in berry crop production to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of berry farming operations to ensure high-quality yield and sustainable farming practices across seasonal cycles.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Plan, implement, and monitor berry production systems (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries) from planting to harvest.
* Conduct soil and crop health assessments, nutrient and irrigation scheduling, and integrated pest and disease management.
* Monitor crop performance and adjust techniques as needed to ensure optimal growth and yield.
* Operate and maintain irrigation systems, fertigation, and crop protection infrastructure.
* Supervise planting, pruning, training, picking, and post-harvest handling to ensure product quality standards.
* Coordinate and supervise seasonal and permanent farm workers.
* Maintain detailed farm records, crop reports, and input applications.
* Ensure compliance with biosecurity, WHS, and environmental standards.
* Liaise with agronomists, suppliers, researchers, and packhouse staff to improve farm productivity and efficiency.
* Use data and modern farm technology to make informed decisions around crop cycles and resource use.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum 3 years full-time, hands-on experience in commercial berry farming or horticultural agronomy.
* In-depth knowledge of berry crop agronomy, soil science, and integrated pest and disease management.
* Experience with irrigation systems, fertigation techniques, and protective cropping (e.g. tunnels or greenhouses).
* Ability to manage and supervise staff in a fast-paced farm environment.
* Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Competency in farm data recording, planning, and compliance documentation.
* Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* Tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or similar field.
* Experience with sustainable farming practices or organic berry production.
* Knowledge of Australian horticultural regulations and standards.
