Breakdown, Rapid Response - Mechanical Maintainer (Fitter) – Recovery Team
Location: Kwinana Pigment Plant – Mason road
Contract Type: Full time hours - Maximum Term Contract up to Nov 2027
Roster: Sportsman Roster – 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, including occasional maintenance coverage as required.
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Tronox's newly established Recovery (Breakdown) Team, created as part of a recent organisational restructure and is currently being trailled for 2 years.
In this role, you will report to a Recovery Supervisor within the Maintenance Team and be directly involved in maintaining critical plant and equipment at Kwinana Pigment Plant. This position is ideal for someone confident working in a chemical processing environment, with the ability to respond to urgent breakdowns and undertake complex mechanical tasks with a strong focus on safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for:
* Performing reactive maintenance, responding promptly to equipment failures, diagnosing faults, and resolving issues efficiently.
* Removal, installation, maintenance, and overhaul of rotating equipment, pumps, piping, compressors, heat exchanges, steam equipment, and pressure vessels.
* Identifying and reporting defects, while suggesting improvements to plant equipment, methods, and procedures.
* Taking a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and ensuring all repairs are completed to the highest standard.
* Complete all documentation to a high level of accuracy in Tronox's Maintenance Systems.
* Support a positive safety culture, including hazard identification, risk management, and reporting.
* Communicate effectively and working collaboratively with other team members and departments.
* Assist Operators with tasks such as preparing and isolating equipment.
* Record process information and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Australian Recognised - Mechanical Trade Certificate – Fitting (essential)
* Minimum 5 years' post trade experience as a Mechanical Maintainer (essential)
* Willingness to maintain clean shaven face as a safety requirement (essential)
* Experience in breakdown/reactive maintenance with strong fault finding and troubleshooting abilities (essential)
* Demonstrated experience working with Rotating Equipment, Static Equipment, Piping works and Utilities Systems (essential)
* Prior experience working within a chemical processing or refinery plant
* Confidence to work in a Major hazard Facility, working with challenging conditions, including break-ins and breakdowns in a chemical processing plant.
* A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required.
* Solid decision-making skills and sound judgement under pressure.
* Flexibility to work a 12-hour shift roster with occasional additional hours as required.
* Full working rights in Australia with no restrictions.
* Current Driver's Licence – unrestricted
