Our Mentors teach and support coping skills, to our participants to build their independence, resilience and reach their goals.
Are you a dedicated trauma informed professional, wanting to support our participants who need to be wrapped in compassion, curiosity and grounded presence focused on gentle but fair support?
Working as part of a united team providing 24/7 supports to our participants, the role of mentor will be required to complete the following responsibilities:
* Supports in daily living, including household tasks, meal preparation, and medication management, as required
* Assist in developing and achieving individualized support plan and goals
* Foster an appropriate and supportive relationship promoting autonomy and informed decision-making
* Nurture skill-building and independence through various activities and exercises
* Implement and follow behavior support plans and strategies
* Team collaboration to ensure their physical, emotional and social needs are met in a consistent and person-centred focus
* Ensure compatible and effective communication with the participant, their family, and broader support team, working to ensure that the best communication style is put into place to suit the participant and their understanding of information
* Essential capability to document their progress, incidents and changes in their support needs
* Report, record and monitor concerns and or incidents
* Supports are 100% focused on the safety and wellbeing of the participant, staff and community
* Follow established safety protocols and procedures as per NDIS practice standards
* Ensure that risk analysis is practiced always, with a proactive approach to prevention of accidents or incidents
Role Requirements:
The ideal candidate has experience in disability support in a similar role within the community, or similar lived experience.
You work well in a team, and independently and are able to demonstrate resilience, strong communication and work well in a challenging environment.
You are committed to the principles of person – centered support and individual choice and control
You are keen to develop leadership skills, and you are inspired with what you do and have strong positive interpersonal skills
Mandatory Requirements:
* Full Australian working rights
* Minimum enrollment in Cert III in Disability Support or related field
* Open C Class driver's license and reliable vehicle
* Ability to obtain a Yellow Card
