Job Description
We are seeking a highly experience Tailings Engineer to join the team at Hidden Valley Mine in Papua New Guinea.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Processing & Operations Projects, the
Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer
(RTFE) is the owner's appointed technical authority for the integrity and performance of TSF 1, TSF 2, and the future TSF 3 at Hidden Valley Mine, Papua New Guinea.

This role will be offered as an expatriate FIFO opportunity from/to Australia working on a 16/12-day roster.

Responsibilities
As the RTFE, the responsibilities of this role include:

* Providing lifecycle stewardship across concept, design, construction, operation, closure, and post‑closure, in alignment with the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and ANCOLD Tailings Guidelines and applicable PNG legislation and permits.
* Be the delegated authority to set operating limits, require changes to deposition or construction methods, and suspend operations (including tailings deposition, embankment works, or water management activities) where facility integrity or public / worker safety may be compromised.
* Work closely with, but is independent from, the Engineer of Record (EoR), ensuring appropriate checks and balances between owner oversight and design sign‑off.

About You:
Qualifications
You must be an experienced professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:

* Bachelor qualification (or higher) in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (e.g., RPEQ, CPEng)
* Minimum 10+ years in tailings / dam engineering covering design and /or operations, with significant exposure to construction quality and surveillance.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of GISTM, ANCOLD Tailings and Dam Safety Guidelines,
* Proven capability leading multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors and consultants (PFS/DFS/EPCM/EPC).
* Strong data literacy for instrumentation, water balance, geotechnical interpretation, and risk analytics.
