Assistant Director - Workplace Relations and Safety As the Assistant Director of Workplace Relations and Safety, you will be a key adviser to the Director of People Services, Executive Management, and Senior Leadership.
Working independently and confidently, you'll lead the strategic delivery of services and guidance across: Workplace Relations Work Health and Safety Dive Program Compliance This role involves developing policy, managing complex casework, and delivering agency-wide initiatives.
It is a diverse and rewarding leadership position.
This role is full-time, non-ongoing (temporary) from 26 May 2025 to 19 December 2025.
Key duties include: Manage the delivery of high-quality HR services.
Monitor legislative and policy changes, assess impacts, and recommend compliant responses.
Provide strategic advice on workplace relations, WHS, and performance management.
Lead case management supporting employees and managers.
Develop and review employment policies and procedures.
Oversee governance of key groups such as the Authority Consultative Group, Work Health and Safety Committee, among others.
Contribute to continuous improvement in HR processes and support planning, reporting, and audits.
We seek a trusted, collaborative leader with: Deep knowledge of workplace relations, WHS, and relevant legislation (e.g., Public Service Act, Fair Work Act).
Experience leading teams and managing complex employment issues.
Practical skills in policy development and case management.
Strong communication skills, capable of simplifying complex topics and handling sensitive issues with integrity.
A passion for fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting strategic people solutions.
Essential requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience (5+ years) in a similar role.
