Job Reference: ******* About the Role: The Curtin Institute for Data Science (CIDS) is seeking a detail-oriented Administration Officerl to join our team.
This role supports our technical team with their administrative and operational requests, organises internal and external events, supports and coordinates our HDR students and works closely with Curtin's central services.
Our ideal candidate must be available for an immediate start following interviews in early/mid-January ****.
Your responsibilities will include: Providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to the CIDS team.
Liaising with Curtin's Central Services on behalf of the CIDS, including the University's Travel Team, to arrange and coordinate business trips for CIDS staff.
Organising and coordinating internal and (to a lesser extent) external events, including but not limited to sourcing and organising venues, catering, suppliers, ticketing, and promotional activities.
Supporting and coordinating our HDR students (onboarding, organising milestone presentation timeslots and providing logistical and administrative support).
Establishing and maintaining efficient administrative processes and practices.
Responding to incoming enquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders in a proactive, accurate, customer focused and professional manner.
Supporting our marketing team, if required.
Who we are looking for - Selection Criteria: While you do not necessarily need to be currently employed within a tertiary education setting, strong administrative experience in a similar role is essential for this position.
Previous experience in a research environment within the tertiary education sector, and/or experience as an administrative officer, executive assistant or event coordinator, is advantageous.
Additionally, you will satisfy the following criteria: Essential: A relevant diploma qualification and experience; or extensive administrative experience and broad knowledge.
Ability to prioritise deadlines and have strong attention to detail.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
High-level interpersonal skills, with ability to liaise and build rapport with diverse stakeholders with cross cultural sensitivity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe tools for creating business documentation.
Role Requirements: As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered.

Our aim is to apply data science and high-performance computing to provide innovative solutions to the real-world problems of government, industry, and academia.
The Institute supports a growing network of SMEs, external organisations, government departments, researchers, co-operative research centres, and not-for-profits across various sectors such as, but not limited to, health sciences, manufacturing, transport, art and culture, astronomy, agriculture, and aquaculture.
At present the Institute would typically contribute to ***** research projects per annum, working with over 100 external organisations.
Engaging with the Curtin Institute for Data Science means collaborating with a team of specialists who are highly trained in data science, high-performance computing, software development, project coordination and business development.
The Institute has a dedicated team of over 40 specialist technical staff with diverse backgrounds in computer sciences, physics, mathematics, computational chemistry and biology, bioinformatics, and remote sensing.
It also provides access to over 200 research academics drawn from across Curtin University who specialise in applications of data science in different research settings.
