Supporting, empowering and providing accommodation services to Tasmanian's living with a disability, to develop their independence, has been how St Michael's has operated for over 50 years. Job tasks and responsibilities
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and driven individual to join our People and Culture team.
Reporting to the Executive Manager People and Culture, this role provides high-quality administrative support across all People and Culture functions including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, training compliance, and employee engagement initiatives. The role also supports general office administration and acts as a key point of contact for employees.
To succeed in this position, you'll bring strong administration experience, a genuine interest in HR and people-focused work, and a willingness to learn and grow within the disability services sector. You'll be joining a supportive and dedicated team that values collaboration, initiative, and continuous improvement.
This position is full time.
Skills, experience and requirements
* Minimum 12 months experience in an administrative role (HR or office administration preferred).
* Certificate III or IV in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (or working towards).
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation.
* Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and complete work accurately and on time.
* Discretion, sound judgement, and a commitment to confidentiality.
* Excellent administration skills including in the use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook applications.
* Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
* A proactive and team-focused approach, with the motivation to learn and develop within a People and Culture environment.
* Self-starter with high levels of motivation and strong drive to learn and grow.
* Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (or ability to obtain).
* Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain).
Desirable
* Previous experience supporting HR, training, or compliance processes.
* Familiarity with HR systems or databases.

While prior experience in People and Culture or HR is preferred, we're also open to a motivated individual looking to begin their career in this field. A traineeship pathway may be available, including the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Business or Certificate IV in Human Resources alongside on-the-job experience.
