We are seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team. In this pivotal role, you will support the Area Financial Controller in overseeing the Accounting Department and ensuring the financial health and compliance of the hotel's operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoys developing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise, coordinate, and participate in all activities of the Accounting Department.
* Ensure compliance with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts standards, policies, and procedures.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial accounting records, ledgers, and systems of internal control.
* Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, and reconciliations, including but not limited to:
o Flash Reports, Operating Statements, and Cash Flow
o Balance Sheet with supporting schedules
o Fixed Assets and Depreciation reporting
o Accounts Receivable and Payable reconciliation
o Budget vs. Expenditure reports
o Employee Benefits and Payroll-related reports
* Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT, Land Tax, and Withholding Tax.
* Review journal vouchers, vouchers for payment, and reconciliation reports for completeness and accuracy.
* Ensure timely banking, cash handling audits, and reconciliation of accounts.
* Support forecasting, annual budgeting, and financial analysis to guide business decisions.
* Mentor, train, and develop finance colleagues while promoting compliance and financial discipline across operational teams.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders to integrate cost and financial accounting functions.
Qualifications
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA/CA qualification preferred).
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, reporting standards, and local statutory requirements.
* Proven experience in hotel or hospitality finance operations, with exposure to payroll, tax compliance, and internal audit.
* Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills with attention to detail.
* A proactive leader with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
