About the role

The Productivity Commission (PC) is looking for an Assistant Director, Engagement to join our Strategic Communications and Engagement Group. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel culturally safe with their interaction with the PC.
You will lead, plan, execute and evaluate engagement strategies that advance the PC’s functions and priorities, with a strong focus on:
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement, including participation in PC networks and forums
* Increasing organisational competence and capability in developing and delivering culturally safe and inclusive engagement activities
* Supporting strategic stakeholder engagement across the PC
About you
To be successful in this role you will understand, recognise and acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities hold a close cultural and spiritual association to Country and have demonstrated experience in promoting principles of self-determination in any engagement design. You will bring the following skills, experience, and qualities:
* Have a sound understanding of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and its application in engagement activities.
* Demonstrates excellent decision-making, judgement, and priority management skills, thriving in dynamic environments.
* Possesses highly developed written and oral communication skills, able to engage with diverse audiences.
* Builds and maintains respectful and influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Have proven skills in stakeholder management and engagement, fostering productive collaborations.
* Monitors and evaluates work progress, proactively identifying and implementing improvements.
* Holds relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in communications or engagement.

Position eligibility requirements
To be eligible for employment with the Productivity Commission, applicants must:
* be an Australian citizen or hold an Australian Citizenship
* be willing to undergo a security and character clearance (which may include, but not limited to, completing an identity verification check, police check, and obtaining/maintaining an Australian Government security vetting clearance if required by the role)
* provide evidence of mandatory qualifications (if applicable).
