About The Opportunity
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is community-led and integrated through partnership that shares power, creating a responsive, flexible, and helpful service.
Working together, Wellways, Eastern Health, Inspiro Health and Oonah will provide a range of support and therapies specific to what the community needs, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity and partnership will underpin all our work. This is a new way of doing things and creates an amazing opportunity to drive much-needed mental health improvements for our communities.
As our new Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you'll be providing support to program participants to enable them, their families and carers to address their psychosocial, emotional and alcohol and other drug support needs. This role will see you walking alongside our program participants at every step of their time in the program; from the initial conversation, to delivering one-to-one service navigation, recovery and wellness planning, education and capacity building, and is one where you will play a vital role in ensuring participants, carers and their families receive valuable and supportive care.

About You
This role is identified for someone who feels comfortable to draw on their personal lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to empower their peers on their own recovery journey.
You're empathetic and relish opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people in our community. You will also have the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, including alongside team members who have lived and living experience of mental health challenges or as carers of loved ones who do.
You will also need:
Personal experience of mental distress and accessing and navigating healthcare services, including mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your workCertificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, SHARC Peer Worker Training, Intentional Peer Support or willingness to complete.1+ year relevant work experience in a peer worker role100 points of identificationEvidence of right to work in AustraliaNational Police CheckInternational Police Check (if relevant)Australian Drivers Licence - this role will involve travel around the Yarra Ranges ShireWillingness to support some after hours work - there will be some weekend and extended hours work with this roleWorking with Children CheckNDIS Workers Screening checkNDIS Workers Orientation module certificate – free online course
About Us
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are free, voluntary, and easy to access, with no referral required. Importantly, these new services will be delivered on the basis of 'how can we help? and a 'no wrong door' approach, focused on giving choice and control over how the consumer wants to receive support. This new service will make it easier for members of our community to access the support they need, closer to home and family, carers, and support networks.
Most importantly, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is a safe space for everyone.
