The Role
McInnes Wilson (MCW) is a well-established and highly regarded national law firm, known for excellence across commercial, insurance, private clients and plaintiff personal injury legal services. As we celebrate our 50-year milestone in 2025, this is an exciting time to join our growing team.

We are seeking a Trust Accounting Officer to join our Finance team in our Brisbane Head Office. This role is ideal for a finance professional looking to build or further develop a career in Trust Accounting, with strong support, training and exposure to a broad corporate services function.

You will play an important role supporting the day-to-day operation of the firm's trust accounts, working closely with the Trust Accounting Manager, Finance Manager and CFO. This position offers hands-on experience, mentoring and genuine opportunities for learning and progression within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
With guidance and support, you will assist with maintaining the firm's trust accounts and ensuring compliance with trust accounting obligations, including:

* Processing trust transactions such as trust receipting and trust payments
* Trust to office and trust to trust transfers
* Bank and trust account reconciliations
* Managing dormant balances, unclaimed monies and client refunds/overpayments
* Monitoring unpresented trust payments
* Supporting daily, weekly and monthly trust accounting processes
* Assisting with updating and maintaining documented trust account procedures
* Supporting trust account audit requirements
* Opening, closing and reconciling investment accounts
* Developing and maintaining an understanding of trust accounting regulations across relevant jurisdictions

About You
We welcome applications from junior finance professionals looking to step into Trust Accounting, as well as candidates with existing trust accounting experience.

You May Bring

* A background in finance, accounting or a related discipline
* Experience in trust accounting or legal/professional services (advantageous but not essential)
* Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn complex processes
* Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Exposure to financial or practice management systems (desirable)
* The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
* Good organisational skills, time management and problem-solving abilities
