Full time position available for junior/graduate Naval Architect or Mechanical Engineer in our dynamic company. This is an active role where you will be expected to contribute to all aspects of marine design and as such we will invest heavily in your professional development and assist in achieving AMSA surveyor accreditation in a timely fashion.
While accredited surveyors and active in the re-fit market, CTMD is primarily a new build design firm with a large and growing group of loyal clients which will expose the successful applicant to the full range of material and construction techniques currently employed within the Australian boat building industry. Current projects range from 4.4m production tinnies, government patrol boats to a current build 35m paddle steamer for the Murray River.
The ability to work unsupervised and quickly refocus on new tasks is a must. Some travel will be required.
Duties
- Naval Architecture – Stability, Structural Analysis, Resistance and Powering
- CAD Drawings
- Customer liaison and internal design meetings and reporting
- Survey of Domestic Commercial Vessels
- Actively participating in the continued growth of the business
- Proactively promoting quality, environmental responsibility & safety within the workplace.
Experience and Skills
This is a junior placement and while practical experience in the following areas will be viewed favorably, they are not essential:
- Welding / Small Vessel fabrication
- Commercial Vessel Survey
Experience with the following software will be highly regarded:
- Rhino
- Maxsurf
- MS Office (specifically Excel)
The ability to work unsupervised and quickly refocus on new tasks is a must. Some travel will be required.
- Graduate Naval Architect or be on track to complete all BE (Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Aerospace) coursework by the end of 2025
- Right to work in Australia (Visa or residency/citizenship)
