About This Role
Utilise your Human Resources expertise to provide support and advice to Corrections Victoria at Western Plains Correctional Centre.
VPS Grade 2: $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit
Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focused on rehabilitation, housing up to 1,248 people in custody.
The facility features multi-purpose infrastructure adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care.
Modern amenities include medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities.
The centre provides a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to individualised care that motivates, encourages and promotes reintegration into the community.
Advanced technology improves security, streamlines operations and enhances connections for the people in our care.
Three primary service teams—Workforce and Prison Services, Communities, and Safety and Operational Service—collaboratively deliver comprehensive services for people in our care, safety management, and corporate services.
About the Role
This role is part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners.
Leveraging the technical ability and professional expertise of trained subject matter experts, the team supports the smooth functioning of prison operations while prioritising prisoner rehabilitation and safety.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Workforce Engagement, you will be a key contributor to delivering and supporting the operational requirements of a new correctional facility.
As a Workforce Engagement Support Officer, you will respond directly to general staff enquiries in an efficient, effective and customer-focused manner to deliver timely, accurate and reliable support to managers and employees.
This role will also be responsible for triaging queries to specialist staff support areas within the Prison and Workforce Services team and providing administrative support to the Workforce Services Team.
This is a hands-on role that will require strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and manage workloads, work productively under minimal supervision, and provide exceptional customer service to employees.
You will be required to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and public holidays and attend to urgent work as required.
Appropriate remuneration will be applied in accordance with the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement ****.
Given the nature of the position, being a customer-facing role within the facility, you will be required to work on-site with reduced working-from-home capacity.
Duties
Act as a key contributor to the development of an innovative new correctional facility.
Deliver proactive workforce engagement to a large staff team.
Provide accurate and reliable support to managers and team leaders.
Build mutually beneficial partnerships with varying stakeholders.
About You
Demonstrated experience in providing corporate support services in government or large private sector organisations (desirable).
Experience working with the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software (highly desirable).
