Environmental project manager, consulting

Access Environmental Planning
Posted: 19 December
Offer description

This position is a hybrid management/output delivery role. It manages and supports a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting team providing a cross-section of environmental surveys, report preparation, and technical support to a broad client base. A key part of the role is participating in the planning, management, and collection of field data to support reporting for environmental compliance obligations. Access Environmental Planning (AEP)'s core business provides environmental consulting and reports, advice, REFs, SEEs, and Development Application documentation for all levels of government, corporate enterprise, and individuals within the private sector.

Projects are varied and locations are across most of NSW, particularly west of the Great Dividing Range. AEP is appointed to several Service Panels, including Local Government Procurement and Transport for NSW, and large Corporate Organisations.

A key focus of this role is to provide high-quality, compliant reporting supported by robust field data. AEP has two Accredited Biodiversity Assessors on staff. This provides a supervised pathway for this role to gain accreditation and other certified skills.

AEP will provide support and training for personal development/growth. This will include progression towards achieving Accreditation as a BAM Assessor status.

The Location

Mudgee is a boutique wine-growing region set in the mountains. Approximately 3.5 hours from Sydney and Newcastle. It has recently won several best destination tourism awards and is a very desirable location. Assistance with accommodation is available to establish this position. This is a highly attractive regional location with several schools and a new hospital. It's close proximity to Dubbo, Orange, and Bathurst ensures the availability of specialist services and commercial resources.

Remote Work/Office-Based Options

This position is located in Mudgee.

There is an opportunity to develop a hybrid, work remotely (from home) and attend the Mudgee Office routinely or as required, employment model for an initial, defined period. AEP has access to high-quality accommodation in Mudgee to support this short-term option.

The application of remote meeting technology will satisfy most communication needs. However, it will be necessary to attend the Mudgee office for project development and other strategic meetings and engagements. The AEP multi-skilled team provides for a considerable degree of flexibility in organising and managing time and project delivery scheduling.

Salary

An appropriate market-based salary package will apply to this position. Starting and incremental adjustments will be dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, and the applicable engagement arrangements that apply to the appointment.

A part-time option will be considered for a suitable applicant with a view to moving to a full-time appointment.

Responsibilities

The Environmental Project Manager will be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and as part of a team. Key responsibilities will include the development of projects, field survey planning, the conduct of field surveys, particularly vegetation surveys, report development, and report editing. Cultural Heritage assessment is also a significant component of AEP compliance reporting. Experience in this area is highly desirable but not essential.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

* Proven excellent oral and written communication skills, with a capacity to engage with and negotiate directly with clients and other parties. Be able to deliver a presentation to and or train a group.

* Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource Management or other applicable sciences
* Demonstrated experience in managing a team, projects, and budgets to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated experience working with Local, State, and other Government Agencies and have an understanding of their roles and relevant legislation.

* Have an understanding of private sector business principles, quoting, and project budgeting.
* If Remote Work/Office-Based Options are to apply(from time to time), transport and flexibility requirements will make owning your own private vehicle essential.

Desirable
