What’s the role?
As a Commercial Credit Manager in our Commercial Credit team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the credit strategy behind commercial lending decisions across Australia. You’ll operate independently from relationship teams, using your expertise to assess, structure, and approve credit transactions that align with Westpac’s risk appetite and business goals.
Based in Sydney and working full-time, you’ll manage a diverse portfolio, monitor credit quality, and provide strategic insights to senior leaders. This is a role for someone who thrives on accountability, values sound judgement, and is passionate about supporting Australian businesses through smart, sustainable lending.
What do I need?
We’re looking for a commercially minded credit professional who brings both analytical sharpness and practical business sense. Here’s what will set you up for success:
o Proven credit assessment experience – You’ve previously held credit authority and are confident making independent decisions on complex commercial lending transactions.
o Strong commercial acumen – You understand business drivers and can structure lending solutions that balance opportunity with risk.
o Analytical and critical thinking skills – You’re comfortable diving into financials, identifying key risks, and developing clear, well-reasoned recommendations.
o Clear and confident communication – You can explain credit decisions with clarity, influence stakeholders, and provide guidance to business partners.
o Collaborative mindset – You work well with relationship teams, risk partners, and senior leaders, contributing to a culture of trust, transparency, and shared success.
