Monash Children's Centre Clayton is a not for profit community-based centre located on the Monash University campus. We cater for up to 109 children aged between 3 months and 5 years. We pride ourselves on our commitment and passion to the early childhood field.
Our successful applicant will be highly motivated, organised and committed to ensuring children receive healthy, multicultural, visually appealing and (where possible) preservative free prepared and cooked food.
The role includes: preparing and cooking meals for children; meeting dietary needs of children and ensuring meals are prepared to take into account special needs of children (e.g., allergies); preparing meals that meet cultural and other requirements; ensuring that meals are seasoned appropriately for children; using cooking and kitchen equipment, including ovens; stock and budget control; menu design with consideration given to Australian Nutrition standards; and ensuring adherence to food regulations and safety procedures.
Essential Key Selection Criteria:
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or greater/equivalent culinary qualifications
* Food supervisor or handler certificate
* Working with Children Check
* Anaphylaxis training (or be willing to complete prior to commencing employment)
* Demonstrate sound knowledge of managing a Food Safety Plan, within quality standards and occupational health and safety guidelines
* Experience in developing rotational and nutritional menus that adhere to dietary guidelines for children in long day care settings
* Capability in preparing meals for children with individual dietary needs
* Ability to work within a budget for stock ordering
* Punctuality and time management to ensure food is prepared in accordance to the schedules of the children's routines
