About the role

As the Agricultural Analyst, you will operate with significant independence, applying judgement and expertise to guide policy development, interpret technical information and manage complex projects within a dynamic environment.

* Research, analyse and provide advice on agricultural industry trends, challenges and opportunities across Tasmania’s agricultural sectors and value chains.
* Contribute to key publications including the Tasmanian Agri-Food Scorecard, Agribusiness Insights, and a range of reports and submissions that inform government policy and industry development.
* Lead and manage project and program activities, ensuring milestones are met and outcomes delivered to a high standard.
* Develop and maintain strong networks with producers, industry bodies, government agencies and research partners to support policy development and cross-sector collaboration.
* Represent the Department through consultation, liaison and negotiation with stakeholders from across government and the private sector.
* Support emergency event response activities relevant to the primary industries sector.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Period of appointment

Until January 2027.

Desirable requirements
* A Degree in a relevant discipline, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
* Relevant industry experience.
* A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
* Intrastate travel may be required.
