Based in Maningrida, Northern Territory, BHAC is a progressive Aboriginal organisation dedicated to representing and supporting approximately 4,000 Aboriginal people across 32 homelands in West Arnhem Land. As we transition to delivering Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES), we are seeking exceptional candidates who share our commitment to community-led development and cultural empowerment.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Manager of Employment Services and multiple Employment Consultants to join our team. These roles work closely together to deliver holistic and culturally safe employment support within the community.
These roles will work closely as a team to deliver the RAES program in the West Arnhem region, supporting participants and employers through tailored job pathways, wrap-around support, and culturally safe engagement.
Whether you are leading strategic operations or working directly with clients, your work will contribute to sustainable employment outcomes and community development.
Depending on your experience, you may be suited for:
- Manager – Employment Services : For candidates with leadership and program management experience
- Senior Consultant – Employment Services : For experienced advisors or practitioners ready for a senior client-facing role
- Consultant – Employment Services : For skilled practitioners or early-career professionals passionate about supporting employment pathways
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading employment placement activities such as job mapping, forums, work trials, and post-placement support
- Embedding culturally safe and trauma-informed practices across services
- Implementing strengths-based assessments and individual pathway planning
- Coordinating referrals to vocational and non-vocational services (e.g. health, finance, ID)
- Managing employment placement plans, including mentoring, transport, and coaching
- Supporting youth through specialised forums and transition programs
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with employers and labour market initiatives
- Developing local job opportunities and delivering career guidance
- Supporting workplaces with cultural training, coaching, and job retention plans
- Achieving performance targets across placements, retention, and youth employment
About You
To qualify for these positions, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Community Development, Human Resources or similar, and experience in employment services, community development, or a related field.
You may be a strong fit for the Manager role if you also have:
- Proven leadership experience managing teams or programs
- High-level reporting, compliance, and performance management capability
You may be suited to the Consultant or Senior Consultant roles if you bring:
- Background in employment, education, youth services, or health
- Knowledge of employment programs or regional economic development
All roles require:
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Respect for Aboriginal cultural protocols and community governance
- Adaptability, cultural humility, and a commitment to self-determination
