Technical Sales Engineer

Johnson Controls (through Gordon Brothers Industries) is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team in Sydney, Australia.


Job Overview

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will prospect, identify, and develop new sales opportunities within the Australian Industrial Refrigeration (IR) & Hot/Power (HP) market. You will collaborate with technical teams to deliver solutions, maintain competitive intelligence, and manage sales processes.


Key Responsibilities

* Prospect, identify and develop new opportunities within Australian IR & HP market to achieve designated sales targets
* Maintain field intelligence on competitors and develop business strategies to ensure the IR business unit excels
* Own sales planning, strategy and activity aligned with business objectives
* Collaborate with technical and project teams to develop designs, costings, and proposals for sales opportunities
* Use selection software to optimize major equipment selections during concept design
* Liaise with key suppliers and subcontractors for pricing of equipment and systems
* Implement collaboratively-developed short and long‐term sales plans and prepare strategies to reach nominated targets
* Deliver assigned sales plan in terms of secured sales volume and gross margin
* Manage all elements of SFDC, legal review and bid management during the sales process
* Represent the company with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and demeanor
* Ensure 100% compliance with Johnson Controls Ethics and Safety Policies

Qualifications and Experience

* Industrial Refrigeration experience with products, design and solution sales
* Undergraduate degree in engineering or related field (desirable but not essential)
* 3+ years of relevant sales experience
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and accountability
* Excellent negotiating skills to achieve win‐win solutions
* Motivated team player capable of building internal and external relationships
* Influencer at all organisational levels, quickly establishing credibility with senior managers/decision makers
* Excellent networking skills
* Business‐mindful, change‐oriented and proactive
* Consultative approach and customer‐solution focused
