Assistant berry farm manager (hands on role) (tasmania)

Westerway Berry Farm
Farm Manager
Posted: 24 September
Offer description

Assistant BERRY FARM Manager (Hands on Role)
The Westerway Raspberry Farm is not a huge horticultural company. But we are an important player in the niche spaces in which we operate. We are nimble, dynamic and market focused, diversified and a unique/interesting horticultural business in which to work. All employees have unrivalled access to the experience and support of the Clark family members who have been running the business for over 40 years.
We are predominantly a fresh and processing berry business (with mechanical berry harvesters and purpose build onsite freezer and processing facility) run across 4 sites in the Derwent Valley of Tasmania. But the broader farming business includes livestock, a forest nursery and mechanical services. Employees can work across farming activities during different seasons in what is a collaborative working environment where high value is placed on team work, communication, reliability and high achievement. We are good at what we do but are keenly open to different opportunities and ways of operating our farm.
Who we are looking for
A "Hands On" Farm Manager, or Assistant Manager with the ability to develop into a Farm Manager. Although there will be office duties, we are a farm that prides our self on working alongside seasonal staff and leading by doing. This may be a refreshing opportunity to Farm Managers who have found themselves separated from the field by increasing reporting and administration duties (growing/harvesting a crop is likely a major reason why you entered the industry). A exceptional ability to manage and work with staff is an essential characteristic for our farm.
Interested candidates should please send their resume and a few paragraphs regarding their suitability for the role to [emailprotected]
