About the role
As a Projects Health & Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in keeping our project sites safe by providing practical, on-the-ground safety leadership. You'll partner closely with project teams and contractors to strengthen safety culture, lift WHS capability, and ensure our people and partners go home safely every day. This role offers variety, visibility, and the chance to shape safety outcomes across major infrastructure projects.
In this role, you will:
* Build strong relationships with project teams, contractors, and HSEQ partners.
* Provide visible, proactive safety leadership across project sites.
* Coach and guide teams on WHS responsibilities, contractor management, and safe work practices.
* Review contractor safety systems, plans, SWMS, and risk registers, offering clear, practical feedback.
* Deliver on-site assurance activities, inspections, audits, and contractor interactions.
* Participate in key safety meetings, including HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and pre-starts.
* Support continuous improvement of Unitywater's Safety Management System.
* Contribute to our Monthly Contractor Forum and collaborate on incident reviews and investigations.
* Escalate emerging safety issues and help implement corrective and preventative actions.
* Keep accurate WHS records and support wider audit and compliance activities.
About you
* Must Haves
* WHS Diploma or Advanced Diploma (minimum).
* Proven experience in a similar WHS role, ideally in construction or high-risk environments.
* Strong ability to influence, negotiate and build long-term stakeholder relationships.
* Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and evaluating safety systems and action plans.
* Highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Strong computer skills across MS Office and incident/contractor management systems.
* Ability to prioritise work, manage workflows and contribute to team culture.
* Current C Class Driver's Licence.
* Nice to Haves
* Formal ICAM qualification or equivalent investigation methodology.
* Auditing qualification.
* Background in electrical or civil construction.
* Extensive hands‑on experience within high-risk construction environments.
* Experience using Sitepass or similar contractor management platforms.
