Overview
Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Process Control Group at UNSW to carry out scientific research on an ARC Discovery Project titled "A Probabilistic Approach to Big Data-Based Industrial Process Control" (DP250101137). The fellow will undertake research on control theory and machine learning techniques and work with the Process Control Group in the School of Chemical Engineering. This role reports to Professor Jie Bao and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
Carry out scientific research on an aspect of the ARC Discovery Project DP250101137, focusing on control theory and machine learning techniques.
Collaborate with the Process Control Group within the School of Chemical Engineering.
Qualifications & Skills
PhD in Engineering or Mathematics.
Demonstrated skills and experience with process control and modern control theories including nonlinear control and stochastic systems theory, ideally Behavioural Systems theory and applications.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
Strong mathematical skills.
Understanding of and alignment with UNSW's aims, objectives and values and relevant policies.
Offer & Details
Salary, Level A - $91,381 - $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
Full Time
Fixed-term contract – 24 months
Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
Visa: Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship required; visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
