About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at EastCoast Bullbars, a leading provider of highly engineered vehicle accessories and towing solutions.
In this key role, you will design, develop, and test automotive products, ensuring they meet industry standards and project specifications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while mentoring and developing team members.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop new products using CAD software, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with relevant industry standards.
* Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) simulations and performance tests to refine and optimize designs for safety, performance, and compliance.
* Oversee the development of prototypes, making iterative improvements based on test data.
* Work closely with the manufacturing team to provide advice and ensure smooth production processes.
* Plan and manage product development projects, ensuring specifications and deadlines are met.
* Contribute to process improvements, internal audits, and the maintenance of project management and drafting tools.
* Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and participate in safety management programs.
About You:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering is mandatory, with a Heavy Vehicle Licence and knowledge of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) desirable.
* Extensive experience in automotive design and engineering, with expertise in frontal protection systems.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and FEA, with strong drafting and mechanical design fundamentals.
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes, AS1100 drafting standards, and relevant Australian Standards, legislation, and ADRs.
* Experience mentoring team members and fostering a collaborative work environment.
* Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
* Ability to adapt quickly to meet shifting project demands and continuous improvement initiatives.
