Biosecurity Officer
Our state government client is seeking Biosecurity Officer(s) for a response based in Karratha, WA. The Biosecurity Officer's are responsible for conducting field activities in biosecurity and natural disaster emergencies.
Compensation and Benefits:
1. Hourly Rate: $. per hour
2. Meal Allowance: $/day (not taxed - applicable for every day worked - including the weekend based in Karratha when not working)
3. Accommodation: Provided during rostered shifts in Karratha
4. Flights: Covered for fly-in and fly-out arrangements
Details of role:
5. Location: Karratha, Western Australia (FIFO from Perth, WA)
6. FIFO Roster: 2 weeks on + 1 week off
7. Start Date: ASAP
8. Estimated End Date: th June 5
9. Hours: Full-time - 5 days per week (Monda to Friday only)- 6.am to 3pm
Key Responsibilities:
10. Survey Vegetation and water sources for foraging bees. Including Red Dwarf Honey bee and European Honey bee
11. Maintain safety, resources, and records
12. Comply with incident plans, policies, and procedures
13. Conduct and report on tasked field activities for one or more of the following activities:Surveillance – observe, assess, and record impact of pest, disease, or disaster. Destruction – destruction of biosecurity threat or impact from disaster Disposal – removal of biosecurity threat or impact from disaster Decontamination – cleaning to remove the biosecurity threat. Vector control – remove vectors impacting on biosecurity. Any other field tasks required to meet the response objectives or support other field-based response roles.
14. Comply with Stakeholders inductions and policy
Requirements:
15. Full working rights within Australia.
16. Valid driver's license.
17. Current National Police Clearance.
18. Previous experience in biosecurity, agriculture, or related field preferred.
19. Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
20. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
21. Flexibility to work early mornings and adhere to FIFO roster schedule.
Position Criteria:
22. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
23. Experience in operating in accordance with organisational WHS system.
24. Ability to communicate (oral and written) information and advice.
25. Ability to understand and comply with instructions, procedures, and workplace systems.
26. Ability to perform tasks that require strength, endurance, and adaptability in various settings including extreme conditions, such as high temperatures, confined spaces, or noisy areas.
27. Must be able to work 5 days per week (weekdays only) from 6.am to 3pm.
