The role
The Team

Tasmania is part of a nationwide program of work that is delivering innovations in the treatment of eating disorders. The Tasmania Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) is a new service delivering integrated specialist care for adults with an eating disorder, including Community-Based Intensive Treatment (CBIT) Programs in the North, Northwest and South. We are looking for clinicians with an interest in eating disorders who are innovators and have a passion for delivering quality care.

The Role

As part of the TEDS state‐wide multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

  • Provide quality psychological service using evidence‐based and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • Provide evidence‐based psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions to people with an eating disorder and their families or carers.
You will need to
  • Demonstrate proficient clinical and professional knowledge directly applicable to the treatment of complex mental health disorders in adults and/or children and young people.
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in contemporary psychological practice, including comprehensive evidence‐based psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions and the ability to produce specialist psychological reports.
  • Have high level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including experience liaising effectively with other services and agencies in providing specialised psychological mental health assessment, advice and training.

Details of Appointment

Fixed‐term full‐time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve months. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time, part‐time and casual vacancies.

Position Features
  • Participate in the TEDS Community Based Intensive Treatment and Residential Recovery Program which delivers services for adults (16 years and older) with an eating disorder and their families and carers.
Salary and Allowances

Salary: $117,272 to $126,182 per annum. Employer superannuation contribution is 12% on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other benefits if eligible.

Professional Development Allowance of up to $1,000 per annum.

Eligibility

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working with people experiencing eating disorders or other mental health conditions.
  • Endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Post‐graduate degree in Psychology.
  • Eating Disorder Credentialled practitioner.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
