Lead the safety on site for the construction of a large-scale Commercial facility in Darwin
Your new company
Our client, a leading national company specialising in Building Construction, is recruiting a talented Safety Advisor to work on the delivery of a complex new build Commercial facility in Darwin.
Your new role
As a Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for leading, implementing and improving the site safety systems, ensuring that the works are planned and executed safely. You will monitor critical risks, conduct assurance activities, support incident prevention and response, and provide training to the team and their subcontractors. This is a full-time Permanent role based in Darwin.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Champion a positive safety culture and visible safety leadership across the site.
* Facilitate daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, targeted risk-briefings, and safety stand-downs as required.
* Provide training and site inductions on risk management, safe work methods, and permit compliance, to the Supervisors and Subcontractors.
* Coordinate the development and review of HSE Plans, Risk Registers, SWMS, JSAs, and Permits to Work.
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
* Ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards, client requirements, and company policies.
* Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and develop practical corrective actions.
* Review Subcontractors' HSE documentation and partner with them to meet client and company safety standards.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
* Significant experience in a site-based HSE role on construction projects in Australia.
* Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and construction critical controls.
* Incident investigation capability (e.g., ICAM).
* Proficient with digital HSE systems and Microsoft Suite.
* Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
