Construction Surveillance Supervisor – HV Substations & Renewable Energy
Virtua Engineering is seeking an experienced Construction Surveillance Supervisor to support the delivery of major HV substation and renewable energy projects across Victoria. Acting as the Client Representative, you will provide independent oversight of construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements. This is a hands on field role working across civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning interfaces, with a strong focus on HV substations, transmission infrastructure, and grid connection projects.
Role:
* Client-side construction surveillance and reporting.
* Monitor contractor safety, quality, and compliance.
* Witness inspections, hold points, and key construction activities.
* Verify works against approved drawings and specifications.
* Manage interfaces between civil, electrical, commissioning, and operational teams.
* Support energisation, commissioning, and project handover activities.
Who you are:
* Demonstrated experience delivering HV substation, transmission, or utility‐scale renewable energy projects during construction and commissioning phases.
* Strong understanding of civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning interfaces within major infrastructure projects.
* Ability to identify risks, quality issues, and interface challenges early, working collaboratively with project teams to achieve practical outcomes.
* Confident engaging with contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders in a site‐based environment.
* Engineering, Trade, or Construction Management background preferred, supported by a strong grassroots understanding of how major infrastructure projects are actually built, tested, energised, and handed over.
* Comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgement, and providing clear, concise reporting on project progress and risks.
* Strong appreciation of construction quality, safety, compliance, and readiness for energisation.
* Experience supporting key project milestones including testing, commissioning, energisation, and operational handover is highly regarded.
