We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll team in delivering accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll services.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of payroll as we transition from an outsourced model to an in-house function. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations for a medium-to-large workforce, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
* Lead and coach a high-performing payroll team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Manage payroll operations, including superannuation, PAYG deductions, and leave entitlements.
* Oversee the transition to in-house payroll, including system optimisation and process redesign.
* Act as a subject matter expert on payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
* Lead payroll audits, internal controls, and risk mitigation strategies.
* Partner with Finance and People teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning.
* Champion innovation by improving payroll systems and integrating new technology.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will require:
* 10 years' experience managing payroll in a medium-to-large organisation.
* Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
* Proven leadership experience with a track record of team development and service excellence.
* Payroll systems expertise, ideally Chris21/iChris, plus strong Microsoft Office skills.
* A relevant qualification in HR, Finance, or a related field (postgraduate study is a plus).
