As a Project Director at Australian Government Consulting (AGC) within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, you will lead high‑impact management consulting engagements that help Australian Public Service agencies tackle complex strategic, policy and organisational challenges and deliver tangible public value.
Working as part of a high‑performing, purpose‑driven leadership team, you will shape AGC's strategic direction, mentor and develop talented consultants and senior public servants, and foster a collaborative, inclusive culture grounded in public service values. You will direct the delivery of high‑quality consulting projects across diverse APS portfolios, applying structured problem‑solving, deep government knowledge and strong stakeholder engagement to provide clear, practical advice that supports government decision‑making, policy implementation and service delivery. In doing so, you will also contribute to the ongoing development of AGC's service offerings, methodologies and capabilities, bringing innovative ideas that strengthen the APS's in‑house consulting capacity and reduce reliance on external consultants. You will bring substantial experience leading teams in consulting or similar strategic public sector environments, a strong understanding of government context, and the ability to communicate persuasively with senior stakeholders, anticipate client needs and influence outcomes. You will demonstrate resilience, flexibility and sound judgement in fast‑paced and ambiguous settings, combine analytical rigour with a strong commitment to public impact, and use your leadership, coaching and delivery skills to build high‑performing teams and help shape a distinctive APS approach to strategic management consulting.
