Reporting to the owners, this role will assist in driving strategy and operations across procurement, sales and distribution while managing a lean team.

The company specializes in diesel fuel and related products and is positioned for growth and diversification in fuel solutions.

The role requires strong commercial acumen, broad industry knowledge and willingness to travel domestically as needed.

Key Responsibilities

* Strategic Leadership & Growth:

Define and execute the company's strategic plan to expand the diesel fuel business. Identify new product or market opportunities and assist in developing plans to scale up the product portfolio. Differentiate the business by delivering exceptional customer experience and building close client relationships. Work closely with the owners to set long-term vision, enter new markets, and adapt strategy in a volatile industry (e.g. via dynamic pricing or tech-driven solutions).

* Financial & Margin Management

Oversee full P&L responsibility for the fuel trading business. Manage budgeting, pricing and cost control to protect and grow fuel margins.

* Distribution & Depot Management:

Establish and manage the physical fuel distribution network (hubs and depots). Oversee regional depot locations, lease or develop storage sites, and coordinate logistics (tanker deliveries, transport scheduling) to ensure timely fuel availability for customers. Optimize depot operations to minimize costs and delivery times while maintaining inventory targets.

* Compliance & Safety:

Ensure strict compliance with all relevant regulations. This includes the mandatory Oil Code of Conduct (e.g. publishing daily wholesale diesel prices as required for all declared petroleum product), as well as fuel security and trade laws. Maintain fuel quality and measurement standards under Australian trade measurement and environmental rules.

* Customer & Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain strong B2B customer relationships. Act as a trusted advisor to major clients (e.g. fleets, mining companies, resellers) by understanding their needs and offering tailored fuel solutions.

* Reporting & Governance:

Provide regular reporting to the owners and board-level stakeholders. Prepare and present monthly/quarterly forecasts, budgets, variance analyses and risk assessments. Set internal policies and processes to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Ensure all company activities uphold corporate governance standards and ethical business conduct.

* Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel extensively within Australia (for depot visits and client meetings) and occasionally internationally if required.
