Accountant
Location: Padstow, NSW 2211
The position will serve to perform all in-house accounting services for Glorious Health Care Group. The role is flexible and allows WFH. This is a full‑time role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the bookkeeper to produce, analyse, and present comprehensive financial reports for directors, management, shareholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Perform audits and financial investigations to verify the accuracy of records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare accurate, timely, and error‑free client accounts in line with billing schedules.
- Process and review fortnightly/monthly payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Review and pay superannuation liabilities by the due date.
- Follow up on outstanding payables and accounts receivable.
- Review and update general ledger coding of invoices.
- Perform bank reconciliation against bank‑issued statements regularly.
- Assist in creating and refining budgeting and accounting policies.
- Analyse operating expenses, income, and overall expenditure based on data provided by the accounts assistant to optimise resource allocation and cost efficiency.
- Prepare tax returns for the business while offering financial and taxation advice on business structure, operational plans, and investment strategies.
- Oversee internal control systems and assess cash flow, evaluating the financial risks of capital investment projects.
- Coordinate with financial institutions to establish effective fund management arrangements where needed.
- Maintain and update the Asset Register, including depreciation, and reconcile it with the general ledger.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or at least five years of Accountant experience to substitute the formal qualification.
- A total of at least two years of experience working as a full‑time accountant in Australia.
- You must be Australian Citizen/ Permanent Resident or have proper working rights in Australia.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and budget management.
- Robust knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial compliance standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems; demonstrated experience with Xero accounting software or similar.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- High‑level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with figures.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in an accounting practice environment.
