Territory Funerals are wanting to hear from you. We have a Funeral Director position available that is full time (for suitable applicant) or permanent part-time with a minimum 30 hours per week.
An opportunity has become available for a compassionate and professional person to join our team at Territory Funerals located in Darwin, Northern Territory. This position requires a person who is caring, reliable with a mature attitude, has empathy, discretion and is also respectful. The successful applicant will be dealing with grieving families and friends.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Dealing with deceased persons either collecting from hospital mortuary, nursing home or place of residence and transferring them to Territory Funerals.
* Assisting the coroners office with the collection and transferring of persons to the hospital mortuary.
* Meeting with families through making funeral arrangements, conducting and assisting on funerals.
* Preparation for funerals including dressing of the deceased and coffins.
* Contributing to the everyday operation of the business and maintaining of the premises and work vehicles.
* Interaction with first nation/indigenous/multi-cultural communities.
Applicants should have the following attributes:
* Considerable physical strength to meet demands of the job which includes heavy lifting of deceased persons.
* Must be available and have the ability to work after hours, weekends and public holidays.
* Must be able to work a rotating roster possibly week on, week off.
* Be well presented, punctual, and prepared to assist in all areas of the funeral business.
* Have great inter-personal skills, be caring and empathic to our grieving families.
* Be mindful and respectful of cultural requirements.
* Have the capacity to be at ease with handling deceased persons
* Great organisational skills, have a positive and mature attitude in a team working environment.
* Excellent communication (including computer) skills and an eye for detail.
* Strong command of the English language - written and oral.
* Possess a current clean open driver's licence and ability to drive a manual vehicle.
* Up to date & fully COVID vaccinated as per Northern Territory government requirements.
