About the Role
A new opportunity exists for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working with a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals, the Senior Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development and delivery of complex electrical systems associated with telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
This role will provide technical direction and will contribute to all aspects of electrical engineering works across the project lifecycle including estimation and costing, conceptual design, specification, detailed design and procurement management, field engineering, and overseeing of testing and commissioning.
The role requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles and industry standards to ensure electrical systems are safe, efficient, and meet legislative requirements and Australian Standards. All duties must be conducted in compliance with Radlink's SHEQ policies, procedures and safe work method statements.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or substantially equivalent related field
* Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia at the grade of member (MIEAust); Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) highly regarded
* Minimum of 8 years of professional electrical engineering experience preferably in the Telecommunications, Mining, Oil & Gas, Rail, Utilities or Defence sectors
* Experience reviewing electrical design drawings and documentation for compliance against legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and client requirements
* Experience in the design of DC Power supply and battery backup systems, Solar PV and battery storage systems, generators and generator control systems, and telecommunication earthing systems
* Experience across design and documentation, equipment selection and procurement, system configuration, testing and commissioning
* Experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams, across multiple projects in a review capacity
Additionally, the following competencies are key to success in the role:
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards, electrical engineering design, and equipment and materials selection
* Thorough understanding of electrical regulations and standards (e.g. Electricity (Licensing) Regulations, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3017, AS/NZS 3015, AS/NZS 4836, IEC 61439)
* Broad and significant technical knowledge in the areas of power supplies, generation, power distribution and earthing for telecommunications systems and infrastructure installations, inclusive of hybrid and renewable solutions, and energy storage systems
* Ability to set design direction, standardise and innovate in the design and development space
* Ability to interpret and generate, review and provide technical assurance of technical drawings, schematics, and detailed electrical design documentation as per AS/NZ 3000, AS/NZ 3015 & AS 4777.
* Ability to perform complex electrical calculations, including competence in applicable software applications such as Elek and SKM Power Tools
* Knowledge of engineering of High Voltage (HV) distribution systems
* Knowledge of electrical testing, system commissioning, and compliance testing as per AS/NZ 3000, AS/NZ 3017.
