**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a Export Control and Security Officer to join Office of the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research), Academic Division.
As part of the Office of Research Ethics and Integrity, the Export Control and Security Officer supports members of the University community to comply with Commonwealth legislation and guidelines concerned with defence export control. They are also the designated security officer under the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP). The position develops, implements and maintains good governance practices and risk frameworks to ensure the University's compliance with export trade controls legislation governing the export, supply, publication, and brokering of goods on the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL) and defence industry security requirements.

**What you need to succeed**
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area - for example law, science, engineering or information security, and extensive relevant experience.
- Experience in risk management and compliance relating to export trade control legislation, ideally in an environment that supports research.
- Experience in a defence industry setting with knowledge of defence security concepts and experience in the provision of complex security advice within the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) framework.
- Experience in the development and implementation of compliance processes related to export trade controls and security governance in a large and complex organisation.
- Highly developed written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to form strong networks, and liaise with colleagues while maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute proactively to a high-functioning collaborative team environment with a strong client focus.
