HQOTM MPE capability
within the
Directorate of Deployed-ICT (D-ICT)
, Joint Capabilities Group.

About the Directorate (D-ICT)
The Directorate of
Deployed-ICT
sustains and evolves the ADF's deployable networks and capabilities, ensuring operational readiness and effectiveness across:

Deployable Information Environment (DIE)

Fleet Information Environment (FIE & FIS)
•
Mission Partner Environment (MPE)
• Additional systems including
ARISON
and
C2Chat
These networks support
400+ nodes
and
800+ single-access terminals
, providing critical communications and operational systems beyond the reach of strategic networks, including during deployment.
Role Overview – Windows Engineer (HQOTM MPE)
D-ICT is standing up a
small, highly specialised delivery team
to uplift the HQOTM MPE production nodes. Azooa is seeking a Canberra-based software/Windows engineer with deep experience in Windows-based virtual environments and modern automation tooling.
This role is
full-time for the duration of the contract
and is designated as
Key Personnel
.
Key Deliverables
• Design & document the
HQOTM MPE node
• Review & provide technical advice on interfacing systems
• Develop and maintain
Windows software components
• Integrate existing applications and components
• Automate installation and deployment processes
• Build, administer & support
production MPE nodes
• Contribute to training material; deliver knowledge transfer
• Provide
Level 3 support
across the operational environment
• Maintain configuration baselines, software lists, SOPs & BLIs
• Develop and deliver a
Patch Management Plan
• Ensure documentation completeness and compliance
Performance Expectations
Success will be measured against criteria including:

>95% Windows configuration compliance
• Timely application of Microsoft updates aligned to Army technical baselines
•
>90% SLA compliance
for incidents and problem resolution
•
>90% acceptance
of artefacts on first submission
•
100% Objective record completeness
Essential / Highly Desirable Skills
• 8+ years software development experience
• Windows development with
Microsoft Dev Tools
• Windows SOE creation via
PXE
•
PowerShell
scripting
•
Group Policy
configuration
• CI/CD pipelines (e.g.,
GitLab Actions
)
•
KVM
&
OpenStack
virtualisation
•
Ansible
automation
• SharePoint administration
• Active Directory & ADFS
• Ability to troubleshoot existing codebases
• Ability to align technical recommendations with business outcomes
• Willingness to travel nationally with <1 week notice

• Layer 2/3 networking
• Deployable CIS environment experience
• Systems engineering understanding
• Familiarity with the
Defence Capability Lifecycle

• Linux host customisation & administration
• Bash / Python scripting
