ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position of Communication Designer provides creative design services across a broad range of media including exhibitions, digital media, social media, online media, environmental media and printed media. The role is accountable for delivering high-quality design services that contribute significantly to outstanding museum projects, programs and communications, supporting Museums Victoria's recognition as a centre for design excellence and setting the highest standards of innovative creativity and design excellence.
Some of the key duties include:
* Conceptualising, designing and managing assigned communication design projects, delivering solutions across a broad range of media including exhibitions, digital, social, online, environmental and printed media.
* Liaising with project stakeholders, contractors and suppliers on design issues and projects, including visualising and presenting design concepts and supervising contractors when required.
* Operating state-of-the-art computers, peripherals and relevant software applications.
* Applying and working within the Museum's Visual Identity System and style guidelines.
* Contributing to the review of systems and procedures to support the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality communication design services.
* Providing advice to the Visual Design Manager on the effective use of new communication products, systems and services.
* Actively contributing to project teams in an open and constructive manner.
* Complying with Museums Victoria policies and procedures, and relevant legislation and regulations.
The successful applicant will have:
* Proven ability to clarify communication problems and deliver effective solutions through critical thinking, creativity, experimentation, visualisation and evaluation.
* The ability to adapt to technological change and embrace learning and mastering new ways to visualise and communicate concepts across a wide range of media, including digital, social, online, environmental and printed media.
* Demonstrated experience working effectively within project teams, with an understanding of the role of design and interpretive programs in a museum or similar setting.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with experience contributing to a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Strong project management, administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of systems and procedures.
* Highly developed skills in operating computer-based communication design software and applications.
OTHER INFORMATION
This role is full time, fixed term position for 12 months. The salary on offer is VPS3.2 base of grade - $89,292 per annum + 12% Superannuation.
