Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is seeking an experienced and committed Visiting Medical Officer – General Medicine to deliver high‐quality, evidence‐based care at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, the region's major referral centre. What you'll be doing
To deliver contemporary, comprehensive Specialist General Medicine services at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and, where required, across associated facilities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and support a healthier community through high‐quality care.
* Deliver contemporary, comprehensive inpatient and consultative General Medicine services
* Provide strong clinical leadership within the department and across multidisciplinary teams
* Supervise, mentor and educate junior medical staff and trainees
* Contribute to safe, patient‐centred care and high‐quality clinical decision‐making
* Participate in quality improvement, audit, risk management and clinical governance activities
* Support effective communication with patients, families and clinicians
* Participate in the General Medicine on‐call roster
* Uphold NSW Health and MLHD policies, procedures and CORE values
This role is central to advancing the standard of care and strengthening General Medicine services across the District.
Essential Requirements
* Medical Board of Australia registration as a Specialist Physician – General Medicine
* Cleared Working With Children Check and National Police Check
* Category A vaccination compliance
* Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Physician General Medicine and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
* Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Medicine at the role delineation of the service.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
* Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
* Availability to participate in an on‐call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
* Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
