About the role
In this role, you will lead a crew delivering efficient parks and horticultural maintenance across garden beds, open spaces and park assets. You will support maintenance programs, ensure the safe operation of plant and equipment, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a customer-focused service while supporting the team to deliver projects successfully.

Key responsibilities
* Lead a crew to undertake inspections & works, effective and efficient with appropriate maintenance programming as directed by a Parks Supervisor.
* Lead a team in a range of horticultural maintenance tasks, including garden beds, open spaces and relevant park assets.
* Lead a crew operating and maintaining plant/machinery and equipment in an effective and efficient manner and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
* Work within all Council health and safety policies and procedures.
* Displaying a positive personal contribution in assisting the City Parks and Gardens Unit in providing a customer focused service and commercially driven operation.
* Effective and efficient recording of maintenance works undertaken time sheets and plant sheets or recorded on Councils Management Maintenance system.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a trade Certificate in Gardening, Horticulture or equivalent, and/or extensive experience in a range of horticultural activities in a Parks environment and the following experience:
* Experience in providing leadership to a small team, ensuring team safety, training employees and providing good clear communication / instructions.
* Experience in operating a range of Park's Maintenance plant and equipment.
* Experience and knowledge horticulture skills, practices and principals.
* A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
* Current Working with Children Check (employee).
* Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
