**The Role**

The vacant position provides applicants with an opportunity to acquire and/or develop an understanding of the core functions of the department from the Finance and Resource Management Branch perspective and is an opportunity to further expand on their skill set within the Australian Public Service (APS).
**Duties and Responsibilities**
The Financial Governance Officer is responsible for:
- Provide sound advice and support to the department around the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework, which includes the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA Act) 2013, Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs), Financial Delegation schedules and internal policies.
- Assist the management of the departments compliance with the Resource Management Framework including administration of the Financial Management Compliance System (FMCS), Management Assurance Certificate (MAC) and Resource Management Letter (RML) surveys.
- Assurance and compliance reporting on the framework which involves supporting, reviewing and finalising non-compliance, and preparing communications to staff informing them of their obligations.
- Respond to compliance queries and other financial governance queries via a dedicated hotline and inbox, maintaining key corporate policies and preparing senate estimates briefs.
- Assist in the development, coordination and facilitating financial literacy offerings for the department, including training courses, guidance materials and intranet resources.
- Support in managing the DEWR Accounting Network in partnership with CPA Australia and CAANZ, including relationship management, coordinating membership and learning and development opportunities for members.
