About us

Our Veritas House Support Services team provide supports to the various programs of Veritas House - a vibrant not for profit community based organisation with a specific focus on supporting vulnerable children, young people and their families in the Bathurst and Orange areas. These are a combination of assessment, therapeutic intervention, behaviour support and consultation/advice services which help meet the needs of children, young people, families and carers of Veritas House. Additionally, they provide services to the general community, with a focus on supporting the needs of children, young people, families and participants.

The role

We are searching for enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Casual Disability Support Workers to join our growing NDIS Program across Bathurst, Orange and surrounding areas.

Primary Purpose of Position

To provide high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with disabilities in line with their NDIS goals and personal preferences. This role involves supporting participants to develop skills, access the community, and live as independently as possible in a safe and respectful environment and enhance their quality of life.

Some of your Key Responsibilities may include;

* Provide hands-on support with personal care tasks.
* Assist with meal preparation, grocery shopping, cleaning, and other household duties.
* Support participants to develop life skills (e.g., cooking, budgeting, using public transport) and build independence.
* Facilitate community access and participation in social, recreational, or employment activities.
* Follow individual support plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans to ensure safe, person-centred care.
* Use mobility aids, assist with transfers, and perform manual handling tasks safely (where trained).
* Administer or assist with medication in line with training and authorisation.
* Provide emotional support and foster respectful, trusting relationships with participants.
* Accurately record notes, report incidents or concerns, and communicate changes in participant wellbeing.
* Work collaboratively with families, carers, and health professionals to deliver consistent and holistic support.
* Maintain confidentiality, uphold professional boundaries, and contribute to a positive team culture.

Key Selection Criteria

Minimum Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or equivalent (or evidence of enrolment and actively working towards).

Experience working with people with disabilities, including those with complex needs, autism, or psychosocial disability.

Understanding of the NDIS and person-centered active support principles.

Ability to work autonomously, follow directions, and use sound judgment in a range of support scenarios.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships.

Basic digital literacy and confidence using support documentation and apps.

Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and human rights.

Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
