Fleet Manager Position Overview
This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing fleet operations, supervising drivers, and ensuring compliance with customer and legislative requirements. Key responsibilities include planning and allocating deliveries and pickups, managing driver recruitment and onboarding, overseeing daily operations, and monitoring operational KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, allocate, and schedule deliveries and pickups in line with customer and legislative requirements.
* Manage driver recruitment, onboarding, training, and compliance (including Fatigue and Chain of Responsibility).
* Oversee daily operations, including fleet utilisation, maintenance scheduling, and vehicle inspections.
* Liaise with workshop, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service delivery.
* Monitor and report on operational KPIs, DIFOT performance, and cost efficiencies.
* Ensure all staff comply with PPE, load restraint, and safety policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
We are seeking a transport professional with a strong background in road transport, logistics, or fleet operations. The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory experience managing drivers and vehicles across multi-site operations and a sound understanding of NHVR, Fatigue Management, Chain of Responsibility, and speed legislation. They will also possess excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
